I've been studying Sanskrit for some time and
I've enjoyed other Grammar books, but this one is more "direct". It is just what
I was looking for: a collection of all the tables with the necessary
explanations, no extra garbage or confusing info. I specially loved the Chanda
Sutra section, amazing. I can see myself using it for years. Although some very
very minor mistakes (mispellings and such), this book is really Gold.
Definitely recommended.
I would buy it again.

This methodical book is based on extensive R&D, Effective Techniques and
Improved Ways beneficial to the Readers to give them proper reture for their
investment of Time and Money. The book begins with simple primary steps and
moves forward with authentic examples coupled with Progressive Exercises
suitable to each context to bring home the topic being discussed. The Vocabulary
and Illustrations are selected carefully to offer a window to the topics, as
used in Real Life Situations. You will not find such contemplative work in any
Hindi learning book.

Probably one of the best grammar books overall I
have ever seen for ANY language let alone for Hindi. This book really simplifies
Hindi and its grammar. The ENTIRE book 600+ pages are all in Hindi script AND
transliteration so you can learn without even learning the script (although I do
NOT recommend it). If you are a student of Hindi and want a great book then this
is definitely one of them. It is just not as well known because its an import. I
cannot even begin to put into words how good this book would be for a Hindi
student. It is also intentionally geared towards learners of Hindi in America.

Dear Rathakar,
I have your book “Learn Sanskrit Through English Medium.” I knew about it just
rambling 'sanskrit' tag in delicious. I bought it in supplement to 'Beginning
Sanskrit' by Dermot Killingley, which in my view has a lack of drills for
keeping in mind 'what we have learned so far' and for developing speaking
skills. Thank you very much for writing this book and having it available.

To TDSB, re our Hindi class. The teacher was great. The sequence of the
lessons was organized in a way where we learn the basics first unlike the other
classes that start in the middle of a lesson. More time would have been helpful,
for example twice a week. I really enjoyed this course and the teacher was
exceptionally great.
Thank you.

Mr. Narale was a great teacher! He was very good at teaching at the
right pace for the class and covering the information at the right level. I am
very impressed with the methods used in the course. He taught us how to make our

Dear Dr. Narale,
I have been a
formal student for at least 28 years, a teacher of elementary school-children,
and subsequently a teacher of undergraduate and post-graduate students for 35
years. English is my only spoken language. I have studied French and Latin in
college and university.
I am using your
new and basic “Learn Hindi Through English Medium” and after having studied one
half of it I would like to make a few comments about why I have enjoyed every
lesson. The following approaches which you used make this book unique and ideal
for me.
1. The 20 Step by
Step outline of the Hindi course states clearly what material is to be covered
in each step. Each lesson does, indeed, teach me patiently and superbly the
details of what was outlined. My expectations were fulfilled and with each
lesson, the Hindi learned was reviewed again and again. Hindi was consolidated
with each section. The extensive use of transliteration and translation helped
with pronunciation. I wondered whether you were the ‘English-only’ student.
2. You have made
easy the writing, pronouncing and reading the consonants, vowels, sandhi and
commonly used words and symbols in Hindi. I personally would feel more
comfortable with the Hindi pronunciation by listening to an accompanying CD/tape
made of your book by someone who speaks both Hindi and English and who is aware
of the weaknesses and flaws we inherently have when we are learning to speak
Hindi properly.
3. Your Hindi book
shows me how to make my own simple sentences using pronouns, nouns, verbs and
numerals. These sentences were often original . my very own! Your numerous
examples with answers were extremely helpful especially when you also provide
the transliteration and Hindi, of questions and answers both. As I learn more
and more vocabulary I am sure that there will be less ‘Hinglish’ spoken.
4. I am getting
more comfortable with the present, past and future tenses when speaking Hindi.
Your outstanding methodical lessons promise to further teach me the practical
usage of the perfect tense, conditional mood, interrogate mood, adverbs,
conjugations, prepositions and variety of suffixes. Surprisingly, in only a few
weeks I am able to make my own simple sentences and I am able to speak Hindi!
Schools and learners of all ages would really appreciate this book!
5. Your unique
comprehensive Tables and Tests are extremely helpful in understanding, reviewing
and consolidating what has been learned to the present point.
Thank you Dr.
Narale, for providing English-speaking people like me with the opportunity to
learn to read, write and speak Hindi. I look forward to conversing and
communicating with others locally, in Trinidad, in Guyana and India, hopefully
in Hindi, and without a loss for words.
Sincerely,

Dear Rathakar
I have your book “Learn Sanskrit Through English Medium.”
I
knew about it just rambling 'sanskrit' tag in delicious.
I bought it in supplement to 'Beginning Sanskrit' by Dermot Killingley,
which in my view has a lack of drills for keeping in mind 'what we have learned
so far' and for developing speaking skills. Thank you very much for writing this
book and having it available.

Dear Archaya Ratnakar,Namaskarji
I am Heartfelt Honored and Grateful for your
prompt response. To be frank i did not really expect to hear from you.I was
desparate and forlorned over the matter and you were my last recourse.I knew
about you only because i purchased your books on Sanskrit and Hindi not long ago
from exoticindia.com.I was just staring at these two books and wondering when i
was going to get started,and how,in what manner.without guide-teacher,i
propitiated Mata Saraswati and pleaded for Her to grant me insight. You are that
Insight.Im very glad you put your email address on your books. The ones i
purchased, now out of print,i researched and found nothing better than your
own.You have everyright to push them for sale and you should, they will help me
for years to come.I plan to buy all your books on Sanskrit and Hindi.
Archarya Ratnakar,my Heart with Love tells me i
should focus Totally on Sanskrit,i needed you to acknowledge this for me from
another angle,i am grateful to you.My mind tells me im a fool, that i should
learn Hindi first because if i plan to work and live out my days in Mother India
i will need it to feed myself, and communicate with people, make ends meet.I will
side with Love-my IshtaDeveta-Devi.I may not be able to communicate in Sanskrit
with the general population, but thats not why im learning it.When i
Pray,Worship,think-feel in Sanskrit....i receive a response. It may not be there
and then, but im assured from experience that because of my Sincerity, whomever im
addressing in Sanskrit, they understand and what i recieve in return is more, much
more than i could have imagined.I pray you are not lost with me,that you grasp
what im trying to express.Call me a fruitcake, thats okay,Sanskrit is not an
ordinary language,Truly,it penetrates those centers of our existence that just
wait for someone like myself to come along and Wake them up.
If its okay with you i would like to stay in
touch with you for guidence-instruction on this wonderful journey.I am a very
simple person,my Path is Truth,Light,Peace,Love. Please feel free to make
enquires, background check of any kind about me..I have been working with the
same employer for 22 years now.I am 53,done with society-family,in good
health,im Centered and
and in Love with that Center. That center for me
is Sanatan Dharma,my Heart.I pray that you will help me in my evolution and if i
arrive before you do,i can only promise you i will not forget you.
With respect, there is no need to fathom me,just
Accept me as your disciple in learning Sanskrit and we can let our
Gods-Goddesses do the rest for us both.
I have just begun memorizing the Sanskrit
vowels.
Sincerely
Babhita Sadasook

Dear Narale Sir,
I received two copies of Savistar Gita last
week. Thank you for that. I plan to keep one copy with myself and gift one of
the copies.
I strongly believe this book should be more
available. I tried to find this book in Pune and Nagpur and just could not find
it in any of the regular bookstores or book stores that keep religious books. I
could not find it easily on the internet either. I checked Amazon do not seem to
keep too many Hindi books. If I find a website which keeps Hindi books, I will
let you know.
Thank you once again.

Namaste,
I am happy to inform you that I am recommending your book "Learn Sanskrit
Through English Medium" as one of the reference books for an online Sanskrit
course I am teaching for a Washington based college. Regards,

Next year will mark the fifteenth anniversary
of my first involvement with the Hindu Institute of Learning. Since then, HIL
has grown phenomenally, thanks to the ceaseless efforts of the President
Shastriji J.C. Sharda, and the Principal Acharya Dr Ratnakar Narale. As always,
a full range of classes are offered in the fields of languages, arts, and
cultures. Educational endeavors will receive a great boost with the construction
of the HIL’s Montessori Academy. And we must not forget the impressive new HIL
website. I have lived in the United States since 1995. This has prevented me
from being active in HIL activities. Nevertheless, my wife Mary and I count many
friends among the members and supporters of the Institute. To all of you, I send
my best wishes.
John.

: Dear Shri Ratnakar ji,
"I thoroughly enjoyed your website looking through it. When will the Gita book
be available?
Please advise as I would like a copy."
Dr. Sitansu Chakravarti, Prof. of History,
University of Toronto :
Namaste Ratnakarji,
My sincere greetings to you and all. May your work in Sanskrit and Sanskriti be
ever on, on an increasing scale, throughout the year, and years to come. Bharat
is going through trying times .To my mind, Ratnakarji is a unique exception in
the area. His IT experience has not divorced him from the root of our sanskriti,
which is Sanskrita, where he stands brave and high. Personally, I have a lot to
learn from him and be inspired by the example he holds, I believe, for all of
us.

Ratnakar ji, when I
look at the sections on 'Brain Surgery of Hindi Grammar' and 'the X-Ray Vision'
in your book "Learn Hindi through English Medium," I think it is truly a work of
genious.
Sherriff Charles, Toronto :
I was most pleased with the Hindi classes and
learned far more than I had expected. At the start of the classes I knew about
five to six words in Hindi, words like dal, bhart, bhagee, ghos and who could
forget aloo. Everything else was new to me. Here's wishing you the best of the
season and a healthy and prosperous new year.
Sincerely,
Sherriff Charles.

of History, American University, Nairobi, Kenya. :
As an academician nothing gives me greater
pleasure than to see the emergence and development of an educational institution
devoted to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of a nation. My heartiest
congratulaions to Dear Dr. Ratnakar Narale, the principal, and to the entire
Managing Committee for flying the flag of HIL higher and higher. Kindly accept
the following couplet as my tribute to the staff of the Hindu Instutute of
Learning.
Nij Sanskriti ke Rajdoot Tum Dharma Dhwaja Phaharao, Bhasha, Dharmashastra,
Darshan ki Gyan Sudha Barsao.
Atmadeep Jagrit Karo , Paaoge Nirvan, Dukhion Ki Seva Karo Mil Jaeynge Bhagwan,
(Illuminate your Self to get salvation. Help the poor and you will see God).
Literally Deepavali means a row of lighted lamps. Spiritually, the lighted lamp
symbolizes knowledge that drives the darkness of ignorance away. On the sacred
day of Deepavali we should illuminate our inner self to remove the darkness of
hatred, selfishness,lust, greed, violence etc.
"TAMASO MA JYOTIRGAMAYA" ( O' Lord ! Lead me from darkness to light) should be
the main focus of this festival. In certain area of Rajasthan in India, on this
day the women folk exchange lighted lamps with each other and distribute the
same to those who have none. This conveys the message that the well to do
members should share their good fortune with less fortunate >members of the
society. By doing so we fulfil the prayer " SARVE BHAVANTU SUKHINA" ( let
everyone be happy).
Asha Maharaj Kawalie : Director HIL :

Late Joe Skulj, P. Engg.: Historian, Scholar :
The Hindu Institute of Learning is not only preserving the cultural heritage of
Indians, but its staff is a valuable source of knowledge for people of other
cultures. Using the ancient language of the Vedas as a reference, people of
other cultures in Europe are able to get better insights into their
prehistorical past. My latest paper, was facilitated by the Hindu Institute of
Learning, which may be of interest to you as a historian. (You may see it under
Institute Staff Pblications on the main menu)
