Literary career:

In early 70’s, as there were no computers, Ratnakar began producing handwritten and later on, typewritten, blue-printed or cyclostyled material to teach Hindi and Sanskrit in private classes. In early 1990’s Personal Computers came and he started making Personal Computers equipped with his own custom designed Devanagari fonts to promote Hindi, Sanskrit, Gita, Ramayana and music. For writing books to teach and learn Indian languages, he created fonts such as: Sarasvati.ttf (Sanskrit true type font), RNhindi.ttf (Hindi-Marathi true type font), RNtamil.ttf (Tamil true type font), RNnask.ttf (Urdu true Naskh true font), RNnast.ttf (Urdu true Nastaliq true font), RNgur.ttf (Gurumukhi true type font), Canada.ttf (Roman Transliteration and Music Notation true type font), Ganesh.ttf (for Hindi Abroad News Paper, Mississauga), Rakesh.ttf (for Hindi Times Media, Brampton), ST.ttf (for Hindi Chetna Magazine, Scarborough), Sharda.ttf (for Hindu Institute of Learning, Toronto), etc. Along with the Indian language true type fonts, he also developed innovative techniques, materials and charts to enhance Hindi teaching.[1]

            Ratnakar taught Hindi at University of Toronto (2008-2009), York University, Toronto (2006-2007), Toronto Metropolitan Ryerson University, Toronto (2009-2022) and he is teaching Hindi at Toronto District School Board (2002-2025). He taught Hindi, Sanskrit and Gita at Hindu Institute of Learning, Toronto (2013-2017). Ratnakar’s first two books, Gita Ka Shabdakosh (ISBN 81-7315-492-5) and Gita Darshan in two volumes ( 9789352664061), were published by Prabhat Prakashna, New Delhi, India (2003) and then the third book “Learn Hindi Through English Medium” (ISBN 978-0-9782017-9-1) with Hindi Speaking CD and Hindi Typing Font CD and Roman Transliteration CD was publish in 2006.

            He is Chief Editor of the Pustak Bharati Research Journal (ISSN 2562-6086), the only English-Hindi Research Journal published from Canada (2019).

 Ratnakar’s 54 online amazon available books include: 14 Indian Languages learning books, 19 Indian cultural educational titles, 6 Indian historical books, 3 Lexicographical works, 11 Indian music educational books and 1 Yoga philosophical book. In addition he has 37 indological titles with/for several authors.

Social Contributions:

Ratnakar’s major social contributions are :

(1) Sowing seeds of Hindi Language in non-Hindi speaking people through his classes, books, articles and journal in order to provide everlasting educational benefits.

(2) On one hand he has developed effective and innovative educational materials and on the other hand he has published educational and cultural books to help people in India and the Indian Diaspora from Mauritius, Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, Fiji etc.

(3) He is spreading love for Indian culture outside India and assisting these people to come back into Indian society, making their future generations India lovers. The belief behind this auspicious work is that each seed of rich Bharatiya Sanskriti you sow will grow in to a tree and its seeds will then spread further and further for ever and ever. In last 53 years he taught Hindi, Sanskrit, Music, Gita and Ramayan to thousands of children, youth and adults.
